OEGSTGEEST, The Netherlands — September 30, 2025 — Avery Dennison, a global leader in materials science and manufacturing, has announced a new strategic partnership with SOPREMA, significantly expanding its AD Circular liner recycling program. SOPREMA will serve as Avery Dennison’s primary liner recycling partner across Europe, and will transform used glassine liners into sustainable building insulation. SOPREMA is the only company capable of recycling glassine liners into cellulose wadding through a patented, in-house process recognized worldwide.
Through this partnership, Avery Dennison aims to enable partners in the labeling and packaging industry to embrace circular economy principles. By leveraging SOPREMA’s established recycling infrastructure and expertise, AD Circular will be able to offer enhanced operational efficiency and scalability, improve access for customers looking to responsibly recycle their used glassine liners, and help them achieve their critical sustainability goals.
Under AD Circular, SOPREMA will collect liners manufactured by any brand or supplier, across various countries in Europe. Each year, clients are complemented with an annual certification offering clear, quantifiable proof of total tonnage of liner recycled.
What's more, collected liners will now be repurposed into high-performance cellulose wadding for building insulation. This aims to make buildings more energy efficient, decrease the demand for virgin resources, and promote a more circular and sustainable economy. For example, one ton of glassine liners can insulate up to two attics, and last for the entire lifetime of the building, significantly extending the useful life of these resources.
