The power of electrification
The shift towards electrification continues to shake up the automotive industry, with the demand for EVs increasing at an extraordinary pace. In fact, it's forecasted that over 17 million electric vehicles will be sold globally by the end of 2024, representing 25% of all new passenger car registrations. This trend brings new opportunities, particularly in the need for innovative labeling solutions that can withstand EVs' unique environments and safety standards.
However, this shift also presents a challenge: the urgent need for universal testing standards. Ulrike Steinfort, the technical marketing manager for Durable Goods at Avery Dennison, highlighted this point recently: "The absence of universal testing standards means the EVB labeling process remains fragmented and somewhat inefficient. Implementing universal tests could streamline development processes, cut costs, and ensure consistent quality. The automotive industry has successfully implemented standardized systems like the IMDS, demonstrating the feasibility of this approach."

Connecting the physical and digital worlds
In addition to electrification, integrating digital solutions, particularly RFID and cloud-tracking assets, also caught visitors' attention at our booth this year. These technologies are key to improving the traceability, efficiency, and security of battery systems, and this year, we were proud to showcase our sophisticated RFID solutions and laser etchable labels, which provide identification and tracking capabilities necessary for modern battery management.
The increased interest in digital solutions reflects the industry's move towards smarter, more connected battery systems. Our innovations anticipate these demands, ensuring product longevity, high performance, and compliance with industry safety standards. By connecting the physical and digital worlds, we are helping to drive the EV industry forward, offering an all-in-one source for every bonding, connecting, protecting, and labeling requirement. More about these solutions is below.
