Find a Recycler

Congratulations on recycling your label waste. Label waste is one of the labeling industry’s most urgent environmental challenge, with millions of tons of liners and matrix discarded every year. As part of our goal to eliminate 70 percent of liner and matrix waste from our value chain by 2025, we are building a network of recyclers to help converters and brands reduce and reuse label waste. We believe that, together, we can solve the problem of label waste.

What does recycling mean in our industry?

Recycling in the label industry refers to the process of collecting label waste—mainly liners and matrix. Waste is collected at the companies who apply the labels on the substrates and the core elements of the matrix and liners used as raw material to manufacture new products.

The recycling process

The recycling process involves three stages.

  • In the first stage, the matrix and liners are put into designated containers. Depending on the recycling company involved, the collection process can differ. For example, for paper liner recycling, users are often asked to sort the liners from the cores, the labels and other by-product streams like plastics.
  • The second stage is the collection of the waste materials. Avery Dennison is offering different solutions to collect these from your sites. Please contact your technical sales support representative to investigate the possibilities at your location, or contact one of the recycling companies in your region, listed below.
  • Finally, new raw materials are produced from the waste. Avery Dennison works with specialized recycling companies who are dedicated to recycling waste material.

We’ve listed our recycling partners in the UK and Europe below. Please contact them to see how they can help meet your needs, or contact your Avery Dennison technical sales support representative. In addition to these regional solutions, there are also local initiatives that we would be pleased to investigate with you.  Feel free to contact us via: linerrecycling@eu.averydennison.com
