Strategically positioned across the globe, our Centers of Technology and Innovation support major innovation initiatives for Avery Dennison. These include extensive customer application simulation testing, design of experiment testing, prototyping, as well as analysis and engineering of pressure-sensitive labels, creative packaging solutions and other product design constructions.

Our Centers of Technology and Innovation house dozens of research laboratories and employ close to 300 engineers and scientists. To accelerate the product development process, pilot coaters and presses enable a variety of coating trials and generate new product samples for rapid prototyping and new creative packaging development.

Performance Adhesive Center of Excellence

At the Mentor Innovation Center, there are a number of specialty labs with technological and scientific resources that empower us to help our customers everyday. It’s here where new ideas begin, where we test our materials for performance and help solve your most challenging issues.

The Concept Lab is where we transform ideas and concepts into prototypes and other solutions for our customers. We help bring our customers’ ideas to life with virtual prototypes, such as 3D renders and photographs, and physical prototypes that you can hold, touch and feel.


The Performance Adhesive Center of Excellence is devoted to the research and development of adhesives, one of Avery Dennison’s core technologies, and brings all our adhesives researchers under one roof in a 24,500 square foot, state-of-the-art-facility. Originally founded in 1973, Mill Hall also remains one of the company’s main adhesives manufacturing centers.

Capabilities: analytical lab, recyclability area, accelerated aging lab, release coatings area, graphics area, print lab, the UL® testing lab, adhesion lab, extrusion lab, TAPPI lab, pilot coater, converting room and the accelerated weathering and durability lab.
